A timeless retreat at the gateway to a World Heritage Site

Founded in 1856, Shimogamo Saryo stands near the World Heritage Site of Shimogamo Shrine, embraced by the ancient Tadasu-no-Mori forest and the clear waters of the Takano River. Overlooking a lovingly tended Japanese garden, guests are invited to enjoy Kyoto cuisine that honors the spirit of ”do-san do-hō”—local ingredients and local traditions—while continuing to evolve with the times.
