The custom of celebrating a 1st birthday with 1 sho (about 2 kg) of mochi is based on the idea that 1 sho mochi and the child's whole life will be spent on it. It contains the wish that Like the New Year's kagami mochi, mochi is also sacred and auspicious. The most common method is to carry a large rice cake on your back, but the way you try to carry it on your back is irresistibly cute. Please try to incorporate it into your celebration.
