Founded in 1856, Shimogamo Saryo stands near the World Heritage Site of Shimogamo Shrine, embraced by the ancient Tadasu-no-Mori forest and the clear waters of the Takano River. At Shimogamosaryo, the designated culinary steward of the World Heritage Site Shimogamo Shrine, you are invited to experience the essence of Kyoto through Tea Kaiseki and the tea ceremony.
Set in a traditional sukiya-style building with authentic tea rooms, this experience begins with a seasonal Tea Kaiseki meal, followed by an intimate tea ceremony led by a tea master.

No prior knowledge is required — simply come as you are.
Rooted in over 170 years of history, our approach to hospitality values not formality, but the quiet beauty of each moment shared.
Begin with tea, and conclude with tea.
