The Legacy of the Paris Tasting - A Signpost Leading to the Future from the Judgement of Paris -
2026 marks the historic milestone of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, as well as the 50th anniversary of the "Judgment of Paris," a legendary event that elevated California wine to a global standard. This blind tasting, held on May 24, 1976, redefined the very concept of wine and brought California wine onto the global stage.
To celebrate this special anniversary, Conrad Tokyo will host a one-night-only "California Wine Pairing Dinner." We have invited leading American educator and opinion leader Elaine Chu-Kan Brown to share her insights on six carefully selected wines, unraveling the innovation and evolution that the "Judgment of Paris" has brought to California wine over the past half century. The dinner will be prepared by Daichi Muramatsu, Executive Chef of Japanese Restaurant Kazehana. We will create a special menu to fully bring out the charm of the four seasons and to accompany the wines of this day.
