~ Winery Introduction "Chateau Mercian Mariko Winery" ~ Mercian was the first authentic domestic wine made in Japan after the war in 1949. After a long time, Chateau Mercian Mariko Winery opened in 2009 as the first winery in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture. It is the only winery in Japan to have been selected as the "World's Best Vineyard 2023" for four consecutive years, and boasts numerous awards at domestic and international competitions. At the Maker's Dinner, recommended wines from Chateau Mercian Kikyogahara and Kataoka Vineyards will also be featured. Zuccotto is a traditional dome-shaped cake that originated in the Tuscany region of Italy, and is named after the hemispherical hat worn by clergymen. In keeping with the orange and red theme colors of our hotel's festive season this year, we have arranged this historic sweet using strawberries and oranges from Karuizawa.
