A native of Miyagi Prefecture, Satoko grew up listening to classical music, jazz, rock, and pop music, influenced by her father. She learned the electric organ from a young age.

She began singing original songs accompanied by piano at age 16, and after moving to Tokyo, she made her indie debut in 2003 with an eight-song album, including band tracks.

She has since returned to Miyagi and continues her musical career. She performs original songs, covers of classic hits, and on-the-spot requests at live shows and events. Her deep, versatile voice and unique perspective resonate with audiences, creating a truly moving atmosphere. "I hope I can light a fire in someone's heart..." is what she strives for.

Saxophonist Shun Kumagai presents a special live performance that takes a head-on approach to standard jazz.
This performance, centered on the desire to "make Sendai a jazz town," commemorates the launch of "JOZENJI STREET JAZZ NIGHT," co-hosted with the Jozenji Jazz Festival starting in April. It also serves as an attempt to share the appeal of timeless jazz standards from the city itself.
Having trained at Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory, Kumagai has performed at the forefront of the music scene both in Japan and abroad. His performances imbue every note with meaning and warmth, carefully portraying the inherent story and emotion of each piece. Rather than relying on flashy technique, he approaches the essence of standard jazz through the comfort of swing, the deep resonance of ballads, and the tension created by improvisation.

Description: The KuJenger is a contemporary jazz band led by bassist Ryo Miyaji. This project, brought together by incredibly busy musicians at the forefront of Japan's jazz scene, has been nurturing since conception.

In 2023, they finally completed a live recording, capturing the band's passion and perfection as they embark on their long-awaited debut tour in 2026.

The KuJenger left a powerful impression at their live show at J'Z last July, enveloping the venue in a thunderous energy. The excitement building with each note and the thrilling developments created by the band's harmonious teamwork are truly the thrills of a live performance.

Following last year's shocking performance, their even more evolved sound will once again reverberate at J'Z. Experience the "now" music of the KuJenger for yourself.

Performers: Kisachi & Friends

Description:
Takashi Saito presents "Kakehashi Project vol.7," a night of musical bridging generations and genres, featuring singer Kisachi.

Originating in Gonohe, Aomori Prefecture, and based in Sendai, Kisachi is an artist who, building on a solid foundation cultivated in big bands, has sung and woven a wide repertoire, from jazz to pop, in his own words. Since his debut, produced by Toshiki Kadomatsu, his album series "My Precious," featuring Jun Abe as sound producer, has garnered critical acclaim for its straightforward and sincere vocal expression, embodying the consistent theme of "delivering feelings to loved ones."
This performance will center around Kisachi's vocals, and will also feature Jun Abe, a leading composer, arranger, and performer; Hiroyuki Kurose, a trusted bassist who transcends genres; and Takashi Saito, the project's founder and drummer who has supported countless performances. Their respective experiences and sensibilities intersect, giving each song a new expression.
The Kakehashi Project connects Sendai with people, thoughts and music.

Performer: soraya

Description:
Soraya, the unit comprised of pianist/composer Kento Tsubosaka, acclaimed primarily in the jazz scene, and bassist/singer Beni Ishikawa, will be holding a special live concert in Sendai.

Since launching their activities in 2022, they have garnered attention for their unique musical world, combining sensitivity and boldness. Their debut album, "soraya," released in 2024, featured the lead track "Kaze no Naka de" (In the Wind), which ranked sixth on J-WAVE's "TOKIO HOT 100." That same year, they also performed at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '24, further expanding their presence. They are also highly regarded as live artists, having sold out their solo performance at Sogetsu Hall.

Tsubosaka's rich harmonies and structural ability, along with Ishikawa's supple, powerful vocals and groove, create music that evokes powerful emotions amidst serenity, penetrating listeners' hearts.
