Morning Temple Walk
Start your day with a lakeside walk to Chuzenji Temple, whose history stretches back to 784. The round-trip route is just three kilometers (1.9 miles), and can include entry into some of the halls to see an acclaimed dragon painting, statues of the five wisdom kings, and the principal object of worship—an eleven-faced, thousand-armed statue of the bodhisattva Kannon said to have been carved by the temple’s founder.

You will walk approx. 1.5km mostly on flat path.

by a Buddhist monk from Chuzenji Temple, try your hand at copying a sutra
and tracing the figure and shape of a buddha—practices that monks have

commitment to heartful living. The calligraphy brush you use may be brought
home as a keepsake.

Nikko Carving Experience
Nikko carving is also known as a traditional craft of Nikko that carves wood using a unique triangular sword called "Hikkaki". This is a workshop where you will be taught directly by the artist of Nikko Bori, which is also used for the wall art that decorates the Japanese restaurant. You can choose your favorite shape and design according to your wishes, such as hand mirrors and wooden plates.

Japan's most beautiful World Heritage site, "Shrines and Temples of Nikko". At Nikko Toshogu Shrine, you will be guided through the precincts by shrine maidens and Shinto priests, and participate in prayers in a special space where you can feel the history of 400 years. You can also take a walk around Takinoo Shrine, which stands in beautiful greenery, and the mysterious Kanmangafuchi Abyss, where about 70 Jizo statues are lined up.
