This notice provides details on TableCheck's response to the high severity vulnerabilities (CVE-2021-44228, CVE-2021-45046, or CVE-2021-45105) impacting multiple versions of the Apache Log4j 2 utility.
Context: Multiple high severity vulnerabilities (CVE-2021-44228 & CVE-2021-45046) impacting multiple versions of the Apache Log4j 2 utility was disclosed publicly on December 9, 2021. The vulnerability impacts multiple versions of the Apache Log4j 2 utility.
TableCheck Software Implications: Log4j is used as a utility in an internal search component. The internal search component is not directly available to the internet, and the vendor has confirmed that our version of the software is not vulnerable to CVE-2021-44228, CVE-2021-45046, or CVE-2021-45105. However, we have patched the system with the vendor's recommended patch. We have performed a security investigation to determine whether there was any impact to TableCheck or our customers. We have determined that there is no security impact arising from this notice, and have patched any affected system with official vendor patches out of an abundance of caution. We have validated that the vulnerability does not exist in the following TableCheck products:
TableCheck for Restaurants
TableCheck for Diners
All other TableCheck products
* Third party systems which may integrate with TableCheck, including Payment and Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, have not been audited. Please check with the associated vendors directly.
TableCheck Customer Implications: Customers using any TableCheck products are not impacted by CVE-2021-44228, CVE-2021-45046, or CVE-2021-45105.
